Why am I offering a FREE print?

I believe that when you put good energy out there, it amplifies. And I believe art can be one of the most efficient, visceral and powerful channels for that energy. I try to infuse my work with as much of that energy as possible, and one of my biggest missions as an artist is to share it with as many people as I can..

SOUL FIRE
The Collection

SOUL FIRE
This work explores the quest for finding and honoring that fire inside that we each have, that truth at the core of who we are, that excites and drives us forward. Flowers, leaves, and an optimistic view of the sky are interwoven with patterns on the side of a building with illustrated plants, implying a connection between city life, and that divine desire we carry inside us. I created this as a tribute to my undying desire to create and connect.

This is an archival print of an original 3 dimensional assemblage made from die cut aluminum.

THE SONGS OF SILENCE
Except for a selection of moments, our urban lives are rarely quiet. And carving out that kind of space isn't always easy in a hectic lifestyle…but it's from the void that matter rises…and in my experience when I can create some mental space, that’s when the best ideas and solutions present themselves. Embedded in this work is the text "Everything I know that screams truth, rises from silence." It's inspired from the experience of being shown the magic of meditation decades ago when trying to overcome my depression and years of conflict at home growing up.

DAYS WITH SMOOTH EDGES
Inspired by my poem of the same title about having the desire for days with smooth edges and no complications, rubbing up against the reality that that rarely happens in real life. But in that understanding, comes the realization that life's perfection lies elsewhere. It's in the contradictions and contrasts in life that we learn, love and grow closer to the potential we all carry inside.

“It is even more gorgeous than I had anticipated. It just kind of floated out of the packaging. It’s as though you blessed it with some kind of magic pixie dust and sent it on its way and it still had some on it leftover from the journey.”

ABOUT ROB GRAD

Southern California native, Rob Grad, is known for his introspective, yet bold 3D collages, sculptures, writing and music. His heavily layered visuals contrast photographic vignettes of natural and urban environments, with drawing, painting and his words–an aesthetic largely shaped from his two decades living in Venice Beach, CA.

Grad’s work addresses existential issues surrounding desire, fulfillment, and resilience in a society inundated by technology, social media and politics. His new work is increasingly influenced by his early career as a musician, when he was signed to RCA records and appeared on MTV not long after graduating high school.

Rob’s artwork has been featured in major art shows and fairs from Basel to Miami and Los Angeles. He shows his work in museums, and is represented by multiple galleries. He gave a TEDx Talk , and in 2024, his work will be featured at the Museum of Art and History in Lancaster, CA as part of the Getty’s Pacific Standard Time initiative. He has large-scale commissioned works installed on both coasts, and his work is held in numerous private and corporate collections.
